Hi All, I am have been an Olympus fan for 35plus years. My 1st Olympus was an OM-1. Great camera. I have 4 prime and 1 zoom Zuiko OM lens. My 1st. digital was an Olympus C-3030 Zoom. 3.3 mgs, 3x optical zoom. An amazing camera. It is taped together and has shot thousands of pictures and still turns out great 8×10’s. Aug. 19, ’09 after much looking and reading I bought my 1st. DSLR. An Olympus e620. I have taken thousands of great pictures with an Olympus camera and had such great service with them that I wanted to stick with Olympus.
My first pictures with my e620 were of our 1 day old Grandson in a hospital room. So I set my new e620 on auto, bragged a bit that I had finally bought THE camera, and began my role of “family photographer” Wow, was I embarassed, Yikes it took forever to lock on focus with the focus flash trying to help. Finally the flash and shutter tripped. The picture was way under exposed and I was only 6 to 8 feet from my subject. Yes it was low light. But??? I made some lame excuse as their friend clicked away with a new Canon EOS Rebel T1i, bam bam bam.
Well I did get some pretty good shots, but I sure felt like I had bought the wrong camera. I got better shots with my C-3030 the day before. I knew the camera was not as fast as a pro DSLR, but I was not prepared for that slow. What did I do wrong? The problem is obviously the AF and me. How can I get the most out of the camera in low light. How does a hot shoe flash help if the camera cannot focus? Or is that as good as it gets in low light situations. Darn, I am so dissappointed that if I could, I would return it and get a new Rebel. BUT, I hope to use my OM lens’s and I love the articulating LCD.
If I set the e620 on Manual it is very difficult to focus?? I used my 300mm OM lens at a High School football game. Pretty good shots and fun, but out of focus. Forget cropping to get the Tight Shot. The kit 40-150 does and is pretty fast. However, I was looking at some football pictures I took in Oct. of 02 with my C-3030 and they looked as good cropped severly as the pics with the e620. Hmmmmmm
So is there an instruction dvd or on line lessons that are specifically for the e620? I do read the manuel but I need additional help. I want to try portrait, lighting, panaramas, sports, landscape, stilllife, wildlife etc. ect. ect. I am 72 and I think it is time to get serious about this picture taking ;) Thank You to any comments or help you can offer me. I believe I have the right camers, I just need ti use it as it was designed. I want to get beyond auto. I want to get as close to my OM-1 as I can and still utilize the capabilities of my e620. Thank You Very Much. Don

Hi there,
i’m thinking about buying an E620.
I saw on your site that the two lens kit is on sale for $719.95.
I clicked on the link through to Amazon but the price was $799.
Please let me know how I’d get it for $719.95.
Thanks….

Thanks for your question, Jacques. As noted in italics on the first line of the story, it looks like that price deal has expired. I just did a quick search of all my e620 sellers and at this moment it looks like it's back to $799 everywhere for the two-lens kit.
I will say it's pretty hard to go wrong with Amazon, no matter what you buy there because of their no-hassle, no-questions asked return policy. Just click any Amazon product link, then read about their return policy from the product page.
The e620's a great camera and I've been enjoying mine so much I haven't taken the time I probably should to keep this blog more current! Hope to have a photo gallery set up sometime soon, but I've got so many photos to process I'm not sure how soon that'll be!
Enjoy your e620!
Peace,
